Hogenakal : Its around 150Km from Bangalore and one has to pass Hosur - Rayokote - Palakkad to reach this place. The other route is through Dharmapuri which is 30km more and known for not so good roads !!
    As it appears like "HOGE" (that is smoke in Kannada Language) coming from the top of  "KALLU" the rocks when the water falls on it, it is said HOGENAKAL
Our team should dedicate this trip to Kamalahasan !!! yes.. we all planned to see Dashavatharam in the weekend but due to unavailability  of the tickets in any theatre,it lead to a long drive to this place where one can see more than ten avatars live :))

Started at 11.30am from Bangalore and stopped for lunch in a thamilian daba (thaba!!)
it was a nice drive through the greenary
have to cross this valley to reach hogenakal
even though, its not the season to visit, it has enough water to attract tourists
check out the coracle(teppa)... we were just jumping to go there literally
getting ready for the ride in coracle..we look like locals right :)
finally we were in the water..
surprise... a floating shop !!! what a marketing plan..just ultimate
yes.. this is the time we waited for. Time to get our camera inside the bag !!

Shantisagar lake (Davanagere)

Duration : 2 days Distance covered : 750km (Bangalore -Shantisagar- Davanagere - Vanivilas -Bangalore) Way of travel : Travera Date : 21st, 22nd March, 2008 21st March    It all started with a plan of attending our team mate's marriage. Friday morning, we were able to  start early at 5am. After having special "thatte idli" at katsandra ( near Tumkur), we headed towards Davanagere thinking about lunch menu in marriage :) After marriage, none of us wanted to come back to Bangalore for weekend.... I visited to Shantisagar lake almost 2 years back and we decided to have evening tea there. Everyone enjoyed the green fields on the Chennagiri route and rain which was playing hide & seek added more kick of enjoyment to the trip. Shantisagar is the biggest man-made lake in asia.Its 40km from Davanagere. Local tradition describes its construction to a rich courtesan by the name of Shantavve, who probably lived in 10th century CE  hmm.... i bet ...

Shabari malai

A trip to shabari malai... All this started on one fine day, when my colleague Chandru and i were doing the usual work in our office i.e. "kala harate" :) After finishing all the subjects we both knew, suddenly the talk turned its way to Shabari malai. Chandru has already been to this place twice and this was his third time... At that moment, without any planning or prep, i requested him to enquire if he can get a seat for me in this trip. Its always true that,things which are unplanned.. executes faster than things what we plan to do... and in the same way, plans to shabari malai finalized without much problems. And the plan was,,, to put "male" on festival day (Jan 15th) in Mysore and start our long journey on 16th morning.
