Bike ride to Shivanasamudra

Still remember that night.. when i was in no mood to go to office and my friend called in from Mandya. That was a decision made at 12 in the night to bunk the office and do a bike ride. The whole idea itself gave a good feeling :P   I started at 5.30 in the chilled morning from b'lore. May be, this is  my best ride in this reason... riding at 80km/hour, alone in the chilling weather on Mysore road... !!! i wish i can start my every day like this :)
While coming back, i visited "Hanumanth nagar" which is known for the shiva temple & "prakruthi chikitsa kendra".

Shivanasamudra : It's 120 Kms from B'lore and 85km from Mysore.Here, Kaveri splits  into two, falls into a valley in two separate places called Gaganachukki and Bharachukki and re-unites downstream.The place is also credited for hosting the first hydroelectric power Station in asia,  "shimsha" which was set up in 1902 by the then Maharaja of Mysore.

Shantisagar lake (Davanagere)

Duration : 2 days Distance covered : 750km (Bangalore -Shantisagar- Davanagere - Vanivilas -Bangalore) Way of travel : Travera Date : 21st, 22nd March, 2008 21st March    It all started with a plan of attending our team mate's marriage. Friday morning, we were able to  start early at 5am. After having special "thatte idli" at katsandra ( near Tumkur), we headed towards Davanagere thinking about lunch menu in marriage :) After marriage, none of us wanted to come back to Bangalore for weekend.... I visited to Shantisagar lake almost 2 years back and we decided to have evening tea there. Everyone enjoyed the green fields on the Chennagiri route and rain which was playing hide & seek added more kick of enjoyment to the trip. Shantisagar is the biggest man-made lake in asia.Its 40km from Davanagere. Local tradition describes its construction to a rich courtesan by the name of Shantavve, who probably lived in 10th century CE  hmm.... i bet ...

Shabari malai

A trip to shabari malai... All this started on one fine day, when my colleague Chandru and i were doing the usual work in our office i.e. "kala harate" :) After finishing all the subjects we both knew, suddenly the talk turned its way to Shabari malai. Chandru has already been to this place twice and this was his third time... At that moment, without any planning or prep, i requested him to enquire if he can get a seat for me in this trip. Its always true that,things which are unplanned.. executes faster than things what we plan to do... and in the same way, plans to shabari malai finalized without much problems.
