Mekedhat + Chunchi Falls

 a cool bike ride in hot summer  Duration : 0.75 days Distance covered : 90+90 km (Bangalore to Mekedhat) Way of travel :  Bike Date :  29th March 2008        Mekdhat (Sangama)   : May be its the nearest and dearest place for the ppl in bangalore. Especially for a   college or office group who want to chill out in the weekend. It can be realised if we see the number of vehicle (specially mini buses) which comes only in the weekends to this place.       Even though, its not the right time(season) to visit this place, we four decided to go for a ride just to prove that we are still young to drive 200 kms in a day :))  We started at 7am.. road up to Kanakapura is excellent and after that.. its a little exercise for the bike as well as to our back. Its famed for its massive Kallina Kote (Palace of Stone) and also known as The Fort of seven rounds (ಏಳುಸುತ್ತಿನಕೋಟೆ),made by the Nayak Palegars. Duration : 2 days Distance covered : 750km (Bangalore -Shantisagar- Davanagere - Vanivilas -Bangalore) Way of travel : Travera Date : 21st, 22nd March, 2008 21st March    It all started with a plan of attending our team mate's marriage. Friday morning, we were able to  start early at 5am. After having special "thatte idli" at katsandra ( near Tumkur), we headed towards Davanagere thinking about lunch menu in marriage :) After marriage, none of us wanted to come back to Bangalore for weekend.... I visited to Shantisagar lake almost 2 years back and we decided to have evening tea there. Everyone enjoyed the green fields on the Chennagiri route and rain which was playing hide & seek added more kick of enjoyment to the trip. Shantisagar is the biggest man-made lake in asia.Its 40km from Davanagere. Local tradition describes its construction to a rich courtesan by the name of Shantavve, who probably lived in 10th century CE  hmm.... i bet ...
